The basis of the book had a good and frightening concept, about a future of a country where women don’t have a say in anything. Not too complicated word structure was used. Okay, so since I listened to the book I try my best to judge the writing style as good as possible! Since there were a few science terms happening, I might have thought that it would be a bit harder to understand the story, but it was fine. The black and white photography helps to make that bold and sans serif font really stand out. I’m also a fan of the cover, since it’s so simple, yet stunning and every element is able to breathe properly. Since the book is written in first person view, it was an even better choice to listen to it as an audiobook. She was talking emotional, really doing a great job in portraying the protagonist.

The Youth gets recruited and brainwashed right away from school. In the close future of the United States, women got deprived of all their rights, they aren’t allowed to work or think for themselves anymore. Not one single woman in the United States is allowed to do so and a word counting bracelet makes sure to not speak more than that. Jean McClellan is a former researcher studying aphasia, the loss of language, and isn’t allowed to speak more than 100 words a day.
